A versatile fabric enclosure and canopy system on the ocean. Creating a strengthened connection to the regional character of a coastal environment, the Sea Apple becomes as functional and flexible as it is identifiable and elegant. Almost tethered and floating like a buoy on the ocean, the Sea Apple creates a focal point(s) on the shallow waters of the coast, drawing the public eye and inviting youthful enthusiasm through it enamoring display of engagement with environment and visitor alike. Operated by marine grade mechanisms, the Sea Apple boasts a series of dynamic functions which express and utilize the fabric exoskeleton composed of a durable and lightweight SUNBRELLA® Marine textile.
Multiple coastal communities have become synonymous with a various events and activities, each playing a key role in the defining of life on the shore. The surrounding ocean, which bounds the community is a continuous draw to visitors and inhabitants who want to relax, jump in the cool ocean water, and enjoy their day at the beach or on the boat. The Sea Apple reinforces this engagement, by providing an interactive point of reference for swimmers, sunbathers, boaters, divers and snorkelers to congregate on the large leaf/pedal like surfaces that are provided by the cloth membrane. The leaf’s module boasts a lounge chair system, which can be locked into place providing a comfortable place to lie.
Acting like the pier of a dock, the Sea Apple provides a gathering and reference point for sailboats, motorboats, kayaks, canoes, Jet Ski’s and other watercraft's to tie up to a strong anchored post while at the same time allowing for relief from the violent rays of the sun. The full fabric canopy of the Sea Apple allows for a large area of coverage, which provides shade for those enjoying a day on the water. Rotating on a 180 degrees on a pivot joint, the multi-faceted fabric leafs rotate and lock into position, allowing the operator to hoist these large shading devices to the top of the structure via the marine grade pulley system housed within the core of the Apple.
Creating a space for daytime and nighttime activities, the Sea Apple acts as a large fabric tent like enclosure for visitors to spend the night on the ocean. The Core of the structure boasts a series of amenities from dry box storage for equipment and supplies to retractable Hammock attachment, which extend allowing for up to 3 individuals per Apple for an over night stay. Evoking a deeper connection with the environment, the Sea Apple’s fabric exoskeleton allows for the moderation of a cool ocean breeze while still providing an enclosure that illuminates like a lamp drifting on the water.
