LUXURIOUS TROPICAL RESORT

Nicknamed the 27th wonder of the Indian Ocean, a environment composed of thousands of coral islands, Mx. 27 reveals itself as a beautiful paradise escape known for its beaches, blue reef lagoon and extensive tropical fauna.

In the turquoise context of the Maldives, a natural oasis presents a crescent island transfixed in dialogue, a conversation between the natural and man made. Formally, the architecture bridges the contextual counterpoints allowing for a timeless monumentality, acknowledging the circular nature of the land, becoming redolent of unbounded flow. Primitive yet innovative, the integrated proposal aims to become seamlessly united with the tropical environment, lightly floating above yet at times, carving and deeply rooting. Staying true to its essence, the proposal seeks to exploit and enhance the natural beauty of the context while presenting extravagant accommodations.

The interplay between the main resorts light tectonic structure, a floating apparatus transcending vertical through cascading waterfalls, becomes an active counterpoint to the solemn, carved earth villas radiating across the terrain. The island's prominence achieves clarity of the composition through its essential and sincere expression of character. Mineral springs, verdant gardens, therapeutic lavatories, exquisite dining and luxury dwellings are at the center of the collected program, all resulting experiences are sensual and sensitive, catering to the deeper relationship with the serene environment.

The resulting experience is peaceful and rejuvenating, intentionally reducing the constructed context to an essential and sincere character - a dialogue with the vibrant regional cues. The luxury villas have been arranged to provide uninterrupted privacy and a visceral connection with the excavated land. The islands northern caverns, carved by waterfalls, push the illusion of tranquility to the limits of possibility.

At the heart, a natural reef- encompassed and protected -an underwater conservatory and precious amenity An empowered dichotomy, the architectural response on mX. 2 7 is representational of an ecologically sensitive concept intertwining and creating a conscious relationship between the natural and constructed temperate context. The intent is an architecture of unity, solidarity, a true expression and celebration of place.

The island proposal is prominent not only through the clarity of the composition, but also through the empowered dichotomy between the light tectonic structures and the heavy presence of carved earth elements. The main program of the resort is housed in the floating bridge like structure, which spans the islands aquatic threshold, connected by a threaded rope bridge - traditionally symbolic - indicative of the old unifying the new. This interplay of weight both in scale and strength, creates a direct response to the rich regional cues.

Exploiting and functionalizing the internal lagoon, the architecture engages directly with the tropical context. The proposal creates an emphasis on the viability of both the island and the region's natural resources - this becomes fundamental. Ambitiously self-sufficient, mX. 27 nourish

es visitors with the fresh resources of island, from tropical fish, to local fruits. The resulting experience creates a richer harmony that responds to the rhythm of the environment- responding to ample natural light and a bleeding of borders between what is man made and what is natural.

We strive to create unique high end submissions which create a truly unique and authentic relationship with the proposed surrounding environment.
